Winning is a team effort and someone has to step on the mound and lead. Kelli has 111 strike-outs combined season in 2009-2010 sincer her starting Freshman debut for NSU. "Kelli has always shown condfidence on the mound since her high school days and is more determined now at the college level. Each year in the off-seson we work on perfection and that has been the routine training format going on 5 years now. She has what every great pitcher needs, a perfectionist frame of mind. It is part Perfection, Super Ego and part Leadership. When you combine these psychodynamic needs then you have Kelli Bornander. She really takes pride into count when on the mound."

Bornander earns 3-0 Shut-out for NSU win

Bemidji, Minn- Kelli Bornander started in a double header with Bemidji State University and earned a 3-0 shut-out victory. NSU Wolves scored three runs over the second and third innings on two hits off BMU then scored on an error and a wild pitch and more errors from the Bemidji Beavers shortstop. The Beavers won the other game 3-2. NSU lead both games scoring early. The Wolves had a run scored on a Lindsey Hubler sacrifice fly. "Bornander had a nice outing," said NSU coach Kristi Villar, cruising through the day except for a couple of jams she was able to get out of.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Sophomore hurler Kelli Bornander tossed a six-hit shutout to start the day, while the Northern State University offense lit up the opposing pitching staff in the night cap as the Wolves tallied a Sunday sweep over Lock Haven University and Edinboro University on Day 3 of NSU’s swing through the Rebel Spring Games.The wins mark the first back-to-back wins of the 2010 season for the Wolves, who are now 3-7 on the season. In Game 1, the Wolves backed up a strong Bornander performance with just one run offensively, but made several key defensive plays to stay on top. NSU was able to manufacture its lone run of the game in the second inning. Sophomore Ashley Gabler drew a 1-out walk and moved up to second with her third stolen base of the season. After a hard-hit line-out off the bat of Michelle Stratton, freshman catcher Kelsey Robling stepped to the plate and dropped an RBI single into right-center to score Gabler from second.That run would prove to be the game-winner, as the Wolves’ defense clamped down on every LHU attempt to generate some offense. The Bald Eagles, who were receiving votes in the NFCA preseason top 25 poll, had at least one base-runner in every inning but the third. Bornander, however, notched three strikeouts and induced an inning-ending double-play in the top of the fourth to thwart any attempt at a come-back.With the win, Bornander now owns two of NSU’s three wins on the season.

Varsity Freshman Sylvie Thomas has pitched 19 scoreless innings in back to back to back shutout victories over Nathan Hale, Chief Sealth and Franklin in her third appearance for Holy Names Fastpitch using a dominant riseball and some great stuff to keep runners off bases for 19 innings in a row!!

"Megan tried pitching last year and had some results but was not totally satisfied. She took some time off from LFA Academy and played mostly infield spots with Acers Kasner 12u for 2009 regular season. Adam has brought her speed up and cleaned-up her mechanics. He also worked on her 'mental game' and put her on a high calorie diet which included peanut butter and jelly sandwitches. Megan goes hard for 3 hour practices with Acers then another 2 hours per week with Coach Adam. It was the middle of Summer and Megan wanted back on the mound. I took her to LFA Pitching Camps and Adam kicked her butt in shape, made her arm much stronger and Megan did the rest, I asked her if she can make the committment and she said alright. "

"This time with a new attitude and hard work paid off big time. I only know of one other team this year that went undefeated and it was a high school team I was a pitching coach for, 4a Emerald Ridge. You ask anyone two years prior if that team could go all the way and you would have laughed. Pitching is everything when it comes to going all the way. Someone strong and with a never give up attitude has to be on the mound leading the charge to such a goal. It sounds far fetched I know... but for me and my pitchers we have a mind-set. Our minds are on the same page and intensity level...go hard to win or go home crying after losing. Winning is not everything to a development recreational team. Try telling that to someone at LFA training camp where winning is everything to a pitcher. These young ladies work harder than any team or club or academy out there. I don't know how to go soft or train for average. Why would you train someone to have a chance of losing. This is not my style and it is not what my pitchers want. The parents go for it!! Once they see a change in their daughter's new attitude, then new player-new person, they just love that about training at LFA. The LFA Pitcher works hard and knows this to be part of a winning philosophy or success recipe."

Congratulations to Kelsey Cearley for her LFA Award for outstanding achievements in 2008-2009 Season, MVP. "KC" played school ball and for ASA/NSA level and organization Sudden Impact 14 u. Winning games in both areas and championships. "KC" has trained very hard with coach Adam and assistant camp coach Terry Cearley and it shows.

Coach Terry: "She really works hard at being the best she can be. We have her on a high protein diet and complex carbs, no wheat gluten diet. KC is very lean and with that has turned into a top athletic utility player, not just a pitcher. She also slaps and gets on base and gets home any way she can. Adam and her Sudden Impact coaches have done well with her."

Graham, Washington is known for it's spectacular views of Mt Rainier and spectacular fastpitch softball players. I had the pleasure of training some very good players in the Graham and Puyallup area over the past 5 years. One of it's legends, Taylor Thompson "The Slapper" will be leaving soon and making room for the next, possible High School greats and the next legend. What makes a legend? Ask any big college recruiter or coach and they will tell you someone with dedication to fastpitch and growing in their position, with determination to win and being a dependable person. A player that can be counted on time and time again in all areas of fastpitch on and off the field. Kelsey Cearley is a rising star in Graham,WA. Now pitching for Spark 14u out of Federal Way,Washington for the 2010 season.

Coach Adam: I really did not know what to expect from day 1 training Kelsey as a pitcher 2 years ago. Let's just say she was unassuming. Very small in size for her age group, 11 at the time. KC had a work ethic you're not used to seeing in a beginning pitcher back then. In less than 6 months she went from learning how to throw a fastball for location, "spot", to winning several championships with her team Sudden Impact 12u. That's not supposed to happen, its rare. Sudden Impact became a dominant force overnight. The parents started with 2 players and built the team from there, holding tryouts and recruiting local fastpitch trainers to send their top players their way.

Dad Terry: " I think she likes it? One thing she is good at is learning new things. KC likes to be active and wants to be the one in the spotlight, especially at home challenging her older sister Kayla and everyone in the house at everything. Kayla was the first to play softball then KC.
She did pretty well at Western Worlds and had quite a few strike outs and slap hits. At Summer camp she has improved her speed on her riseball and perfecting her change up. Really it comes down to practice-practice-practice."

coach Adam: KC has performed excellent in the spotlight for Sudden Impact the last two seasons. What I am enjoying the most as her Pitching Coach is KC's ability to learn new grips and pitches or "tweek" an existing pitch to make it better. Not every pitcher has that ability at her age and level."Now in 2009 KC is doing it all again...pitching,hitting,slap-hitting. Fall Season Training has started and KC is doubling-up on her pitching training for the 2009-2010 Season. Her goal is to increase her location and overall speed and power.

"At only 108 pounds, KC is one of the strongest pound for pound pitchers I have ever trained. An inspirational athlete. Sometimes you don't know if the next season will be there for her as a pitcher? She is just so compact as an athlete and you wonder if she is going to grow physically? The key to her success, KC is an athlete, dedicated to her diet,training program and brings the attitude that she can do anything with a softball!! I like that about KC. She never gives up no matter what. I have pitchers twice her sized observing KC's pitching bio-mechanical dynamics, otherwise known as her style and technique. It's different than the fundamental application to pitching basics. KC has trained to use physics, not pitching basics, to give her the edge at 80+ pounds. If KC get her arm to move faster as a whip instead of just a big strong arm that moves slow compared to most heavier pitchers, she will continue to improve and reach her next potential. With several championships under her belt, that kind of quantum momentum can give an 80 pound pitcher a huge psychological advantage over her beefier competition." coach Adam

At the 2009 Ice Breaker Tournament, KC pitched a no-hitter, beat the #1 Team in the Tournament from Seattle and drove in RBI's as a slap hitter winning 15-1 in her first game!-

The Lady Dolphin Softball Team pounded Peninsula Community College on Tuesday in a doubleheader at Port Angeles 18-1 and 15-1. The SCC squad pounded out 32 hits in the two games with 8 homeruns. Brittanie Thibodeaux and Camille Depew lead the Shoreline team with three home runs each and Athea Surface picked up two pitching wins. Camille Depew, All State pitcher/catcher for Seattle Lutheran in 2008, hit three homeruns for Shoreline!
Depew finishes season with a 0.465 batting average and All Conference Player Award Congratulations on the All Conference Player Award. Wow, 9 homeruns on the season too.depew: I am happy I got the award and already looking forward to next season. serna:Where do you see yourself after CC. depew:I definitely want to go D-1. No idea though where. LFA's Ace and the pride of Lakes High School Softball, Stephanie Shupe of MsStix threw 7 innings to hold a 5-4 lead and Sunny Dorhofer came in to plug the bottom of the 7th in the Championship game and defeated 16u Extreme at the ASA 16u FALL Northwest Championships. It was a real pleasure to watch Fall Ball at the highest level last weekend. To see the MsStix battle in the Semi Final then go and win a close one in the Finals was fun to watch and see many proud parents there enjoying their players and the sport they love. Even with some bumps and bruises, all the girls hit well and fielded balls properly. Just good things happend. I look forward to watching this team grow and play some more.

Both. Megan Carver does both at Catcher,Shortstop and Pitcher with Acers 12u and now Starting Pitcher for Cascade Middle School..On a sunny day in October, a tired, over-worked 7th grader awakens for her morning and eats a big breakfast that includes a PB&J, goes to school, works hard-eats PB&J for lunch,comes home does homework,eats dinner, goes to batting practice,takes a break, begins Pitching practice with Coach Adam which takes 60 to 90 minutes of hard work and downs a water bottle, eats a PB&J. Goes home does her homework and gets to bed.

Megan,tired and half awake gets up the next day to go to school,eats lunch has a PB&J,schools out, game starts at 3pm and throws strikes for 4 innings and game over, 28-0 against Rainier (probably has a PB&J after the game) then goes to Acers practice.Hard work or work hard? It's a choice not every athlete can make with a smile on their face. Megan has desire to be a starting pitcher,dedication to get the job done, determination to follow through with a plan, discipline to know right from wrong, dependable and on time, tries hard to do the right thing always and leads by example.." I think Megan is kid with good stuff on and off the ball field, maybe an over achiever but she wants to make 2009 a year to remember. She has done that and more, an inspiration. Starting pitcher, Brenna Tsujikawa not only started for Auburn Riverside High School on Saturday's game against Graham Kapowsin...this freshman hurler earned it with grand style by maintaining a 15 point lead over GK High's coach Wayne Miller of LadyHawk 18 Gold.

Power within. What it is? Once you find it, the world seems to be open to you. For Brenna to go out there on Saturday and toss strike out after strike out was amazing for this young pitcher. I think her success came from many months of hard work at LFA Summer Camp and one on one pitching lessons with LFA Pitching Instructor, Adam La Serna.

" Brenna is an amazing person first and foremost! We talked about her goals in the summer and all she wanted to do was learn how to better throw her fastball. Once I got to know Brenna, I found out she was an acceptional athlete and person. It was time to introduce Brenna to a whole new "ballgame"...advanced pitching."

Most everyone wants to raise their own level of personal power. Brenna Tsujikawa has done just that and more. I met Brenna at a Mosquito Squad 16 and under tryouts where I conducted pitching assessments.

After reviewing Brenna's pitching form and nice smile I knew here was someone who had something special.

I noticed there was a special sense of inspiration there. Not everyone has that about them. In a pitcher, that can be vital to their success. We worked on polishing her Fundamental Form of her fastball. Then added movement spins to several locations. Over the next few months she also learned the curve,drop,rise and the dominant change-up. Now having some weapons in her arsenal. Brenna feels more confident.

"Against GK on Saturday I felt a little nervous. Then after the first strike out I was no longer nervous. Adam and I worked on pre-game the night before so that I had a plan going into the GK game and did not have to think about what I had to do. I just pitched and had fun! At LFA Camp over the Summer I wanted to be challenged. Coach Adam trained me to use knowledge and by writing the instructions in a Training Journal, I was able to take my key notes to regular practice and use them before and during a tournament. My confidence is better, I learned new pitches and enjoy learning all I can at LFA Pitching Academy."

Many phone calls are coming in from Little League Parents for Fastpitch TRYOUTS FOR FALL BALL and the 2010 Junior Olympic ASA or NSA Season.

Prior to the end of the Summer try to attend at least 3 or 4 TRYOUTS with Teams in your area. IF that is possible, if you are not playing Class A Travel Ball already, look to the "B" Teams to Tryout for. Some will be open with you and admit they are a "start up" or their first time competing with ASA and NSA Junior Olympics and USSSA recreational Teams. Know some facts about these programs first by visiting your local ASA or USSSA website for teams in Washington State. Club Teams are not for everyone.

These club teams are serious people that want other serious people to play fastpitch with. Not all but some are positioning their teams to win the State and National competition and want the best people on their team.
.
Organizations that have been around for more than 5 years have a history you can review of their success. The teams that have a longer history of 8 years or more are dedicated to being around for a long time and have a rich tradition of building quality college bound players and individual ASA and NSA Championship teams.
.
Some newer teams and organizations will have fun developing their teams for positive possibilities of having fun learning how to compete at the ASA level and will take their lumps along the way. If your Little League player made her All Star Team and performed very well both at their position and hits the ball consistently, then consider playing on ASA or NSA Team.

PARENTS NEW TO ASA, NSA and USSSA CLUB BALL? First timers or anyone should call the head coach and ask some important questions to avoid surprises or pitfalls later.

Who are the coaches and where did they get their Fastpitch Coaches Training and Experience and how long? Do they have a daughter that plays on the team?
Who are the experienced players on the team returning from last season?
Are you competing for a local and State Championship?
(A-Level Teams) Are you competing for a National Competition and where?
Does the Team already have a Starting Pitcher (s) with Local,State or National Level Championship Tournament experience?
Does the Team train all year round in a Gym or Fastpitch Facility?
Does the Team take Holiday breaks?
Who will be training the skilled positions and is their an extra fee for this?
Is their a Treasurer, someone not related to players on the team securing team funds in a fiduciary and ethical manner?
Who is their Fundraising manager and what is their success/experience seeking sponsors for the Organization's financial needs,Travel,Hotel,Fees,Equipment and so on.

If your questions to these minimal ASA Team level issues cannot be answered immediately...be aware! Your own safeguards are based on asking important questions. Not everyone is going to answer all your questions right away but the better programs will come close. Your local ASA Director can assist you. Other club teams like USSSA and City Clubs are less competitive than ASA or NSA and most likely suited for your seasoned Little League player that is willing to learn and work hard at helping a club team be competitive toward winning a local USSSA tournament championship. The Seattle Spice Softball Club has scheduled tryouts for our 2010 season on Saturday, August 8, from 12 pm to 3 pm and on Sunday, August 9, from 10 am to 12 pm. Tryouts will be held at Lower Woodland Park in Seattle on fields 4 and 5 (N 55th Street and Greenlake Way N). Seattle Spice will field teams at 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U for the 2010 season. Sometimes as athletes we want the victory so bad we are willing to pay the price for it. Practices, Extra Training, Physical Therapy, Pain, Fatigue and so on. A Champion sometimes will go through all of the sacrifices to reach their Dream of becoming a Champion. Stephanie did just that. After recovering from an injury to her ankle and knee while protecting 3rd on a slide-in, put her out of the game and a few games later back-in the Western World Series games in July. Steph was on the mound again but it was not the same as usual. She had to work harder and dig down deeper for strength and determination to lead her team from the mound.

It comes and goes. Not everyone likes to play games in pain or extreme discomfort. As coaches you don't want them to. We do our best to ask them to evaluate their discomfort and try to follow doctors orders.

For Steph it was shear determination. After struggling and losing all three games on Saturday in Federal Way,Wa. Steph came back on Sunday and helped her team do the impossible. Win all their games and make it into the Championship. That she did and a little extra...won the Championship and will leave her mark in LFA and Softball History of making the biggest come back from personal injury and defeat on Saturday to come back on Sunday to do the impossible. I am honored to know and train Stephanie for over 2 years now. An unbelievable athlete with a believable heart and soul when you get to know her.

Dreams do come true!

In the late summer of 2007 Stephanie Granger was on a mission... to be one of the Top Pitchers in the State. Honestly, Steph struggled to throw a fastball for a strike over any part of the plate. After evaluating Steph after 1 week of training it was clear to me that Steph really should consider another position in fastpitch! Her parents, Pete and Gail, talked it over with their disappointed daughter. On the second week I allowed Steph back for another chance to show me she had what it took to pitch. It really tore me up inside to tell her, sorry but no. Steph was throwing the ball everywhere but over the plate. I suggested if she worked on her lessons on her own and came back to my training camp throwing the ball over the plate then I would train her. Steph physically had the gift to play any position on the field in my opinion. It was Steph's faith in God and her parents never giving up on her dream of one day becoming a champion pitcher. A few days later I got a call from Steph on the third week and she said, "I must see her now because she has been practicing well. " I almost did not believe her. Sure enough Steph showed me up! She worked out at home and her parents helped her allot. Not ever been in this situation before it turned into a great learning experience for me. I took a chance on Stephanie and it paid off. Most of all I was the one that needed a lesson from Stephanie, I learned to never give up on anyone.

"LFA 10 year old Pitcher of the Year"

10yo Kendahl Sugai came to LFA Summer Camp in 2008 and really liked how the change-up can make hitters look silly. She then asked me to teach it to her. In all my 10 years teaching pitchers, I have never seen anyone at any age throw the change up perfectly such as Kendahl did on her first try, after warm-ups. I put a bucket behind home plate or 43 feet and ask the pitcher to throw it very slow with so much control. I was with another pitcher when I heard Kendahl scream and shout, "I GOT IT ! I GOT IT ! In the bucket!!"

In the course of Kendahl playing in the 2009 season she had fun throwing the change up and winning a good share of her games for 12u Blue Jays and Acers-Kasner 12u. I think playing up made all the difference. Kendahl learned how to strike out batters older than her. She built confidence in practice and used that confidence in games she won while on the mound. Playing on 2 teams as a starting pitchers is something my goddaughter Shay did but not till she was 12 years old. Playing on two teams can toughen up any one and it says allot about the character of the pitcher...they are dedicated and appreciate the sport personally. I think Kendahl is outstanding for her age and experience. What she has accomplished will set the bar higher for future 10u and 12u pitchers walking into my pitching program. She trained very hard with me and her dad/coach Darin and her other coaches. It's a team effort of coaching and training the pitcher to reach perfection for a particular pitch. Congratulations Kendahl on your outstanding achievement!

Later on she stopped laughing and got upset she could not hit it. Now Kendahl enjoys doing that to batters on her own. She works very hard. "I created a drill called 1,2,3 walk-ups for outstanding pitchers like my daughter Shay and later for Alexa Derrick of undefeated Emerald Ridge. The 1,2,3 walk-ups is aerobics for pitchers on so many physical benefits. The main thing is conditioning the total body of the pitcher. Distances for the exercise is limited to experience and condition of the athlete. Only a trained professional should evaluated what is best for your pitcher. The remedy for starting pitchers for strong shoulders and rotator cuff muscles and a stronger back where allot of load is placed on during a 45 min work-out or time on the mound in a game is 1,2,3 walk-ups."

Congratulations to Kelsey Cearley for her LFA Award for outstanding achievements in 2008-2009 Season, MVP. "KC" played school ball and for ASA/NSA level and organization Sudden Impact 14 u. Winning games in both areas and championships. "KC" has trained very hard with coach Adam and assistant camp coach Terry Cearley and it shows. Coach Terry: "She really works hard at being the best she can be. We have her on a high protein diet and complex carbs, no wheat gluten diet. KC is very lean and with that has turned into a top athletic utility player, not just a pitcher. She also slaps and gets on base and gets home any way she can. Adam and her Sudden Impact coaches have done well with her."

Graham, Washington is known for it's spectacular views of Mt Rainier and spectacular fastpitch softball players. I had the pleasure of training some very good players in the Graham and Puyallup area over the past 5 years. One of it's legends, Taylor Thompson "The Slapper" will be leaving soon and making room for the next, possible High School greats and the next legend. What makes a legend? Ask any big college recruiter or coach and they will tell you someone with dedication to fastpitch and growing in their position, with determination to win and being a dependable person. A player that can be counted on time and time again in all areas of fastpitch on and off the field. Kelsey Cearley is a rising star in Graham,WA. Now pitching for Spark 14u out of Federal Way,Washington for the 2010 season.

Coach Adam: I really did not know what to expect from day 1 training Kelsey as a pitcher 2 years ago. Let's just say she was unassuming. Very small in size for her age group, 11 at the time. KC had a work ethic you're not used to seeing in a beginning pitcher back then. In less than 6 months she went from learning how to throw a fastball for location, "spot", to winning several championships with her team Sudden Impact 12u. That's not supposed to happen, its rare. Sudden Impact became a dominant force overnight. The parents started with 2 players and built the team from there, holding tryouts and recruiting local fastpitch trainers to send their top players their way.

Dad Terry: " I think she likes it? One thing she is good at is learning new things. KC likes to be active and wants to be the one in the spotlight, especially at home challenging her older sister Kayla and everyone in the house at everything. Kayla was the first to play softball then KC.

She did pretty well at Western Worlds and had quite a few strike outs and slap hits. At Summer camp she has improved her speed on her riseball and perfecting her change up. Really it comes down to practice-practice-practice."

KC has performed excellent in the spotlight for Sudden Impact the last two seasons. What I am enjoying the most as her Pitching Coach is KC's ability to learn new grips and pitches or "tweek" an existing pitch to make it better. Not every pitcher has that ability at her age and level."
Now in 2009 KC is doing it all again...pitching,hitting,slap-hitting.

At the 2009 Ice Breaker Tournament, KC pitched a no-hitter, beat the #1 Team in the Tournament from Seattle and drove in RBI's as a slap hitter winning 15-1 in her first game!
Slap Hitting does 3 important things for your offense; 1. Creates RBI's when runners in scoring position. 2. Puts pressure on the Defense, 3. Put runners on 1st base that have speed.

The Federal Way SLAM! is a 14U-B fastpitch organization that is made up of committed girls in the South Sound area. The 2010 year will be our 4th year as a select team and we will be entering their 1st year of 14U. The SLAM! coaching staff features 4 dedicated coaches with various areas of focus and expertise. The manager for the SLAM!, Mike Rogers, has coached over 20 seasons of Softball, Baseball, Soccer and Basketball in the South Sound area and holds strong beliefs in making youth sports a positive, memorable and rewarding experience for the players and the families. No one has more fun than the Federal Way SLAM! Period. End of story.
In 2009, the SLAM! finished with a 49-15-1 record winning the Acer’s Mothers Day (ASA) 12U-B bracket, the Fife Fun Days Tourney(USSSA ), the Mosquito Invite(USSSA), and the Kent New Team Invite ( USSSA ). The team competed in 10 tournaments in 2009 and was in the gold semifinals in all but one. The team finished 3rd in state for USSSA and also competed in the NSA Icebreaker tournament with a 4-2 record.
The team has a solid group of pitchers and catchers returning that will keep the team in every ball game next year. Our pitchers and catchers are very dedicated and are top-notch.
PLANS FOR 2010
The Federal Way SLAM! will practice and play games throughout the summer.
We’ll play in the Fall USSSA series of tournaments and compete for the 14U USSSA fall state championship.
Starting in December, the SLAM! will practice indoors for 2 hrs per week on a regular schedule to focus on skill development, hitting and speed and agility training.
The team will compete in ASA, NSA and USSSA tournaments around the state with 1 or 2 trips across the mountains to eastern Washington and possibly a trip to Oregon.
The team will compete in 8-10 tournaments for the 2010 season.
FINANCIALS
The budget for 2010 is not yet set, but plan on a financial commitment of $400-$600 dollars for the 2009 year. The team has a history of innovative fundraising techniques. The 2009 season cost each player $300. This included 10 tournaments, league fees, insurance, 2 sets of uniforms, new helmets and assorted team gear.
BENEFITS OF JOINING THE SLAM!
The indoor practice regimen will develop the girls and get them ready for spring.
The SLAM! has a top-notch web site for communication and team building. Highlight videos of the girls are produced for all tournaments and can be shared with your extended family across the world. The SLAM! site has had over 26,000 viewings of highlight videos over the past year. Your daughter’s extended family can marvel at her accomplishments!
The coaching philosophy is POSITIVE. Girls are encouraged and challenged throughout each practice. There is a strong focus on making sure the girls enjoy coming to each practice.
The time commitment and the financial commitments are reasonable. The focus is on competing and having a great time doing it! We plan to accomplish some big things in 2010.

April is always an exciting time of year for baseball and fastpitch softball. The smell of the new grass after being cut. Hot dogs roasting in the ball park. Talks of Ichiro contending for another All Star season performance. Good times for kids and adults preparing for ball games. April always brings me new talent to work with.

I met Melissa Musser on facebook fastpitch friends and soon she enrolled her daughter Carly for Fastpitch Pitching lessons. There was something about Carly that got my attention. Tall and a coaches player because every instruction I gave her was followed by, ok or yes sir. I really just thought she wanted to improve a little more on her fastball for Little League. Then 2 months goes by and while at Summer Camp I noticed Carly throwing a little faster, learning new pitches rapidly and almost perfect in the strike zone on all her spots/ She is good at listening to every word from assistant camp coach Kelli Bornander, starting pitcher for Northern State University. Coach Kelly: Carly reminds me of me when I was 14. Tall and really wanting to be the best pitcher I could be. I think she is having fun and the fact that I can show her my college skills really motivated Carly to look to the future and share my dream. Coach Adam: It took only a few months to give Carly some new skills. What goes on when she leaves camp is her own doing. She is committed to training with her dad,Brian almost every day. Melissa Musser: When Carly puts her mind to something she wants to do I think she puts her perfectionist side into it and really strives to do her best. A bit shy, Carly doesn't like to look bad at what she does. Carly: " I worked hard training with my dad each day. If I don't understand something I am doing wrong, I look in my Training Journal and my pitching notes from Camp are there. I just follow the Important Keys to the pitch and it works. I like training with coach Kelli and I want to pitch like her. One day I will come back from college on summer break and help out at Summer Camps."

I hope everyone is preparing for a great Summer Fastpitch Season!
.
Many phone calls are coming in from Little League Parents for Fastpitch Camp Information ,where to attend and why their daughter should attend a particular camp. My answer is YES go to as many Camps possible that you can budget and schedule for the Summer if you are not playing Class A Travel Ball or lacking instruction and formal training from your team organization and coaches. You have an opportunity to learn about fastpitch from local college team coaches and players, make friends and test your skills and abilities with other players. Be proud of your team, encourage others you don't know and have fun.

Trying out for the first time with ASA and NSA Junior Olympic Teams. Know some facts about these programs first by visiting your local ASA website for teams in Washington State. They are not for everyone. These club teams are serious people that want other serious people to play fastpitch with. Not all but some are positioning their teams to win the State and National competition. Organizations that have been around for more than 5 years have a history you can review of their success. The teams that have a longer history of 8 years or more are dedicated to being around for a long time and have a rich tradition of building quality college bound players and individual ASA and NSA Championship teams. Some newer teams and organizations will have fun developing their teams for positive possibilities of having fun learning how to compete at the ASA level and will take their lumps along the way. If your Little League player made her All Star Team and performed very well both at thier position and hits the ball consistently, then consider playing on a ASA or NSA Team, First timers should call the head coach and ask some important questions. Other club teams like USSSA and City Clubs are less competitive and most likely suited for your Little League player that is willing to learn and work hard at helping a club team be competitive toward winning a local tournament championship.

Summer Camps Checklist:
.

1. Get to camp a little early. Avoid being late. Take all your gear (keep it clean) and any extra gear in case something breaks or gets lost. Remember to pick-up your gear and put it in your bag before you leave. If you find gear, leave it alone or give it to a camp official.
2. Band-aids and a small clean towel or wipes, Ace bandage, personal hygiene stuff.
3. Bottles of water and small juice cans or boxed juice, snacks prepared the night before. Put them in a small, soft-type nylon lunch bag cooler. Place inside a frozen gel freeze bag, not ice, it will melt and get things wet.
4. Cell phones, put on vibrate or turn off before you get to the field or site.
5. Plan on rain just in case, bring extra socks, sweats,shoes or flip flops when you are finished and enter your parent's car. (sweats look tacky at camp but some will wear anyway, dress appropriately).
6. RESPECT EVERYONE: Attitude is everything. Get plenty of rest the night before. Bring a great attitude and leave your personal problems at the house (sorry,don't mean to sound like a Dad). College coaches and players want to enjoy training everyone, hopefully that is the case with you too :)
7. Remember, a major part of camp is about learning new skills. Bring a notebook to record your daily events and keep track of them. Create pictures of proper body mechanics being taught, Write down your experience good and bad because its yours to review and question later with a coach or parent.If you are confused about anything at Camps, please Ask someone to help you, that is why you are there. Any question is a good question to a Camp Coach, they appreciate eye contact and verbal communication.

Success Journal writing:

Start with a notebook that you can write down your specific Fastpitch Instructions and subject footnotes about a specific skill and training sets you're working on and Fastpitch Training Camp experience and goals you are striving to achieve. Creating a Success Plan by writing down what is important about Fastpitch to you and why, what you need to do more often to accomplish your Fastpitch Specific Goals. Be specific with your training time zone. One to Two Days of Pitching or Hitting Camp each week and training on your own should result in enough training to see an improvement in your Abilities. Are you also Conditioning your total body during your Fastpitch Position Specific Training Each Day? Each week you should be making some recordable progress in the following areas; Noticeable body tone or weight-loss, improved Flexability, Balance, Attitude about Winning, enhanced Energy after a full night of rest, Speed and Agility, Faster bat speed, arm speed, throwing accuracy, pitching accuracy and movement. Additionally add more to the list of areas you're improving and if you don't get results right away, be patient and create more goals and adjust your plan with your parents and coach.

By the end of the month you should be able to open your Success Journal and see your last 4 weeks of progress in Training, Time/Attendance to Dedication and Results of your 4 Week Training Cycle. Your Coach, Parent or Mentor will be able to assist you with your journal.
Just talking about your goals and not writing them down is not part of a successful winning program. Serious training is for serious athletes that want to improve and overcome obstacles that have been getting in their way of becoming a better player and athlete in Fastpitch. When you write down what you say and mean it, "you will most likely do it!"

About Coach Adam

Adam La Serna loves fastptich and currently is a reserve pitcher for The Wolverines Mens Fastpitch Team. He enjoyed playing Mens Local Fastpitch 8 years ago in Seattle and could see some time on the mound in 2009. Adam is well known in Western Washington for training pitching powerhouse 4a Emerald Ridge High School to an undefeated 2009 season. Adam began training Alexa Derrick in her sophomore year in 2007. Alexa was awarded All League 1st Team and Pitcher of the Year. Alexa will be on the mound in 2010 for Columbia Basin College in Eastern,WA. Another local standout Adam trained is Camile Depew, High scool League MVP and District runner up winner and All State Pitcher/Hitter from Seattle Lutheran in 2008. Adam was the pitching coach for 2 seasons with Seattle Lutheran. Adam had trained Camile 3 years prior when Camile was 13 years old playing for WST 14u. Camile now plays for Shoreline CC and is an All Conference award winner batting 0.465. Camile will be pitching for SCC next season possibly at the starting spot.Over the last 9 years Coach Adam earned the respect of many fastpitch coaching staff in Pro Fastpitch,College, High School, Little League and ASA,USSSA communities and peers alike and has become well known ASA Fastpitch Pitching and Hitting Instructor-Coach for his hands-on, personable approach and his involvement with the Elementary youth and High School Sports community since 2000 developing Champion Fastpitch Pitchers and Hitters. He is active on the local, national and regional level assisting Seattle and Tacoma Police Officers and Detectives with quality fastpitch camps, assists the parents and recruiters during the college recruiting phase. La Serna is a member of the National Coaches Association. High School,ASA, Fastpitch Training Program to mentor new Elementary, LL,High School coaches since 2001. In 2004 received additional training and support from then UW Coach Teresa Wilson and assistant Amy Hanson. Met with current UW Coach Heather Tarr at Coaches Clinics and received some coaching direction and hitting training.

2009 is the most Historic time for Fastpitch in Washington State, ever. Just look in the newspapers and if you still don't know it, tuning into ESPN over the past few days you find the Washington Huskies fighting for their right to claim the title of being the best college softball team in the Nation. On a high school winning frenzy is Emerald Ridge High School, 18-0, making history for themselves.

Energy is in the air and Fastpitch is the driving force. It keeps coaches up late at night training players and gets them up early on the weekends. "Why do it, why spend most of your spare time training softball players? say's family members. Even my own parents wonder why I keep going for 9 years now? "To me its everything you want in a competitive sport and more for female and male athletes."

After a disappointing season for Cydni Mason in 2008 with Phoenix 12u, it was obvious Cydni needed a major change and time would tell when and where Cydni would find the right fit with the right team. Changing teams is one of the most difficult transitions and learning experiences for any age. Sometimes finding a team to call home is the most challenging task in fastpitch for a parent and daughter to go through. It's actually quite common for pitchers, more than what seasoned fielders with a good bat go through. Good Pitchers that can spot their fastball is a must-have for any 12u team. Finding them is even a greater challenge and if you can't find them you have to "grow them" yourself as a Head Coach.That's exactly what Coach Jason and Cydni's mom,Melanie done. Together they transformed Cydni into one of the starting pitchers on the rise for Acers-Kasner 12u. Sounds easy? NOT. Still working through some struggles of maintaining scheduled training consistency and taking on a new role on a new team, Cydni is learning and struggling at the same time, most of all she think she is up to the task of "becoming a leader on the mound."

I first trained with Cydni when she was 9 years old. Long before the Acers-Kasner 12u program existed. Her older sister Alexa,College bound Emerald Ridge Pitching Legend, introduced me to Cydni during a pitching session with Alexa in 2007. From time to time Cydni would "tag along" at regular Pitching practices. Two years later Cydni's Mom, Melanie, agreed its time to train Cydni on a regualr basis. Every other week at LFA Summer Camps and now in 2009 steadily for the past 4 months.

I thought we were just going to hit softballs.
Adam kicked my butt into a conditioning program with jump-ropes,power stretching, warm-up runs-cool down runs,
50 swings off the "T" before I even stepped up to the plate. He made sure I understood what an athlete needs to do before swinging a $400 bat.
I thought I needed to just hit balls.
It was an education on Training Properly, how to use my body more efficiently

and create goals for hitting the long ball. WE were on a 300 foot fenced field.
By the end of my training session, I was hitting the fence!!
I look forward to also having Adam train my daughter in Fastpitch softball.

Three days later played a double header. I remember how important it is to relax and be patient with my plan and vision. It all came together and I did not have to think about it, I hit my first ever over the fence Homerun!!!!!!

to 2nd Place with 3 homeruns against PCC in a double header

The Lady Dolphin Softball Team pounded Peninsula Community College on Tuesday in a doubleheader at Port Angeles 18-1 and 15-1. The SCC squad pounded out 32 hits in the two games with 8 homeruns. Brittanie Thibodeaux and Camille Depew lead the Shoreline team with three home runs each and Athea Surface picked up two pitching wins. Camille Depew, All State Pitcher/Catcher at Seattle Lutheran in 2008, hit three homeruns for Shoreline! The Shoreline wins coupled with two Everett CC losses to Bellevue CC, moved SCC into second place in the NWAACC Northern Division. The Dolphins are 12-4 in the league, while Bellevue is 15-3. The SCC squad finishes its home schedule on Friday, May 1, at Shoreview Park against Skagit Valley College.

With the bases loaded in the third inning, Morgan Stuart tapped the ball a few feet in front of home plate, but Nelson (41-5) was unable to scoop it cleanly. That allowed the go-ahead run to score.

National player of the year Danielle Lawrie (42-8) shut out the top-seeded Gators (63-5) the rest of the way to clinch the title with a two-game sweep.
Washington (51-12) kept the championship in the Pac-10 by keeping Florida from bringing the Southeastern Conference its first title. The Pac-10 has won 21 of the 27 Women's College World Series titles, with Arizona State and Washington joining powerhouses UCLA (11 championships) and Arizona (eight) the past two years.
Huskies players tossed their gloves into the air and gathered in a huddle near home plate after Lawrie struck out Ali Gardiner to end the game. The huddle of players soon fell over onto the ground after being handed the NCAA championship trophy.
The celebration capped a road trip that has kept the Huskies away from home for three weeks.
The team caught a flight out of Seattle on May 13 after being sent to Massachusetts for the opening weekend of NCAA tournament play. The Huskies stayed on the East Coast for a super regional against Georgia Tech in Atlanta before coming directly to Oklahoma City for the World Series.
When they end their 6,899-mile trek and arrive back in Seattle, they'll have some new hardware. It was the school's fifth NCAA title overall, and the first since the women's volleyball team won its only championship in 2005.
With Lawrie and Canadian Olympic teammate Jenn Salling leading the way, the Huskies were right at home in Oklahoma City.
Lawrie settled down after some shaky defense put the third-seeded Huskies in a 2-0 hole right off the bat. She finished with a pair of strikeouts after Christina Enea narrowly missed a tying home run with a line drive off the left field wall in the seventh inning.
Lawrie was selected the most outstanding player of the World Series.
Florida's Aja Paculba led off the game with a triple to right-center field past a diving Aly McWherter and came in on a passed ball. Kristina Hilbreth reached on an error, moved to second on Enea's infield single and was able to sneak into third on a steal when Stuart lingered too far from the base to tag her. She scored on Megan Bush's sacrifice fly.
Washington answered immediately against Nelson, who led the nation in ERA but was coming off two of her worst outings of the season. Lawrie's RBI single and a wild pitch that brought in Pohlman evened the score at 2 in the bottom of the first.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA), the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, announced today the selection of Washington's Danielle Lawrie (Langley, British Columbia) as the recipient of the 8th Annual USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Year Award.
Lawrie is the first Husky softball player to win any kind of National Player of the Year award. The announcement was made during the opening ceremonies for the 2009 Women's College World Series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.
The junior beat out Florida pitcher Stacey Nelson and Arizona State outfielder Kaitlin Cochran for the award, both of whom were seniors.

"I have to say congratulations to both Kaitlin (Cochran) and Stacey (Nelson) on a great season. It very well could have been either of them standing up here instead of me," Lawrie said at the ceremony. "I have to say thanks to my dad who has been such a great supporter of my career and also to my teammates, as I could not be here without them. They allow me to stand up here and receive this award so I am very grateful to them. Lawrie has had a record-breaking season for the Huskies, establishing new single-season school records for wins (37), strikeouts (472) and shutouts (19) and also broke UW's career strikeout record early in the season. She has extended that record past the 1,000 and 1,200-career strikeout marks throughout the season and last weekend also went over the 1,300 mark. She currently has 1,316 strikeouts, good for fifth in Pac-10 history and 15th in NCAA history.
After redshirting last season to play for the Canadian National Team in the Olympic Games, Lawrie came out stronger than ever this season, starting the 2009 campaign 15-0 with a 0.14 ERA as the Huskies jumped out to the best start in program history at 18-0. She beat such teams in the non-conference portion of the schedule as No. 1 Florida, No. 4 Alabama, No. 6 Georgia, No. 8 Michigan and No. 12 Ohio State, all of which were shutouts. She was at her best in UW's thrilling nine-inning 1-0 victory over the Gators, striking out 12 and allowing just a pair of infield singles to out-duel Nelson.

Lawrie carried her domination into the grueling Pac-10 schedule, where she fired no-hitters against two of the nation's most potent offenses in Arizona and UCLA. The two no-hitters made her the first pitcher in NCAA history to hold the Wildcats and Bruins hitless in a career, let alone a season. Lawrie went on to be named the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year, leading the conference in wins, ERA, strikeouts and shutouts.
The season has only gotten better for Lawrie since postseason play heated up, with the award possibly clinched over the last two weekends with a pair of huge performances. In the NCAA Regionals in Amherst, Mass., Lawrie went head-to-head with three-time All-American pitcher Brandice Balschmiter of UMass. In one of the greatest pitcher's duels in NCAA history, Lawrie outlasted Balschmiter in the deciding winner-take-all game, pitching every inning of UW's 15-inning, 6-1 victory. Her 24 strikeouts in the game were a school record and she became one of just three Pac-10 pitchers and 15 in NCAA history to fan at least 24 in a game.
In last weekend's Super Regional finale, Lawrie also proved to be a dangerous two-way threat. In the Super Regional-clinching victory, Lawrie allowed just three hits and struck out eight but it was at the plate where she made the most impact, blasting a pair of two-run home runs to give UW a 7-0 win to advance to their second World Series in three years.
Lawrie heads into the World Series with a 37-7 record, a 0.84 ERA and 472 strikeouts to go along with a .277 average, six home runs and 25 RBI.
"We've never had an award like this at Washington for softball," Washington head coach Heather Tarr said. "It's awesome thinking back four or five years ago when I was sitting with Danielle while we were trying to recruit her and how far she has come. I know the belief she has always had in herself and we have always had in her and its neat to see that finally come to fruition. I'm just really proud of her and what she has been able to do for our program. The fact that she has one more full year left is amazing." A replica of the award will be placed in a permanent display in the ASA National Softball Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, along with photos of the winner. An additional replica of the award will be presented to the player's academic institution at a designated event in the fall.
Past winners of the award include Stacey Nuveman (UCLA-2002), Cat Osterman (Texas-2003, 2005, 2006), Jessica Van der Linden (Florida State-2004), Monica Abbott (Tennessee-2007) and Angela Tincher (Virginia Tech-2008).
The Huskies kick of the 2009 Women's College World Series on Thursday at 10 a.m. PT when they face No. 6 Georgia. The game will air live on ESPN.

Huskies Earn No. 3 Overall Seed For NCAA Tourney

SEATTLE - The Washington softball team has earned the No. 3 overall seed in the 64-team NCAA Division I Softball Tournament, as announced by the NCAA Selection Committee on Sunday night.

The Huskies, who finished with a 41-10 overall record and placed second the Pac-10 conference with a 14-7 record, will travel to Amherst, Mass., and will be the highest team in the regional, which also features Cornell, Sacred Heart and host-school Massachusetts. UW's opening game will be against Sacred Heart of Fairfield, Conn., on Friday. Sacred Heart is making its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

UW, which is making its 16th consecutive trip to the postseason, is one of six Pac-10 teams to make the 64-team tournament along with Arizona, Arizona State, California, Stanford and UCLA. The Bruins own the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament behind No. 1 Florida.

Friday's game between Washington and Sacred Heart (25-26) is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET. If UW should win, they would face the winner between Cornell (42-11) and Massachusetts (38-8) in the double-elimination tournament.

The winner of Sunday's championship game will advance to the Super Regionals which take place the weekend of May 22-24.
The Pioneers won the Northeast Conference Championship on Saturday to earn their first trip to postseason play. Cornell won the Ivy League title while UMass qualified by winning the Atlantic-10.

Thirty conferences were awarded automatic qualification, and the remaining 34 slots were filled with at-large selections to complete the bracket. The top 16 teams were seeded nationally and will play at campus sites this weekend.

Team pairings were determined by geographical proximity, with the exception that teams from the same conference were not paired during regional competition, when possible.
The SEC led all conferences with nine teams in the championship, while the Big 12 placed seven and the Big Ten and the Pacific-10 each placed six. California State University, Fresno, remains the only team to be selected to all 28 championships. Seven teams are making their initial appearances in the tournament: Bradley University, James Madison University, the University of Kentucky, North Dakota State University, Radford University, Sacred Heart University and the University of Tennessee at Martin.

The Huskies were ranked No. 4 in the most recent NFCA Division I rankings. They have defeated 19 of the 64 teams of the tournament this season, including 11 of the 16 seeded teams. UW is one of three teams to defeat top-seeded Florida this season, edging the Gators 1-0 in nine innings back in late February.

No. 1/1 University of Florida lost the first game of the Women's College World Series championship series, 8-0, to No. 3/4 Washington. The Gators (63-4) tallied their first loss in 29 games, breaking the NCAA's longest win streak of the season.
Senior Stacey Nelson (Los Alamitos, Calif.) recorded only her fourth loss of the season, allowing five hits and six runs, four earned. The righty (41-4) walked only two and struck out five in the outing.
Danielle Lawrie (41-8) recorded the win for the Huskies (50-12), striking out 12, walking three and allowing two Gator hits.
The eight-run loss was the worst for Florida since a 10-2 defeat to UCLA on March 3, 2007. Junior Corrie Brooks (Christmas, Fla.) and freshman Michelle Moultrie (Jacksonville, Fla.) recorded the hits for the Gators, as Brooks tallied an infield single in the third and Moultrie nailed a single to left field in the sixth.
Washington wasted no time getting on base in the first, but the Gators squashed the Huskies' attempts to cross the plate. Ashley Charters started the game off with a high chopper back to the mound and beat Nelson's throw to first. She then advanced to third on a Gator error on Kimi Pohlman's grounder. With two runners in scoring position, Jennifer Salling grounded to sophomore second baseman Aja Paculba (Wildomar, Calif.) who fired home to senior catcher Kristina Hilberth (Dunedin, Fla.) to tag out Charter and keep the Huskies off the board. Nelson went to work, getting the next batter swinging and next to ground out to end the inning and leave runners stranded at the corners.
The Huskies tallied four runs in the third to take the lead. Niki Williams led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on a stolen base. Charters followed with a hard-hit single to second and Pohlman hit a chopper to sophomore shortstop Megan Bush (Anaheim Hills, Calif.), who looked Williams back at third, but could do nothing with the ball.

With the bases loaded, Salling nailed a single up the middle, scoring Williams and Charters. Senior center fielder Kim Waleszonia (Fontana, Calif.) fired home to try to get Charters on a close play at the plate and Hilberth then tried to catch Salling advancing to second, but the ball sailed over Bush's head and both runners were able to hustle home to give Washington a 4-0 lead.

The Huskies added two more in the fifth with two-outs on a double that hit the center-field wall. After a lead-off walk, the Gators got the next two lead runners at second on groundouts. Lawrie singled up the middle to put runners on first and second and Morgan Stuart nailed her fourth double of the WCWS, a new record, to score her teammates.

Sophomore Stephanie Brombacher (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) relieved Nelson in the sixth. After recording two outs, she gave up her fifth home run of the season to Charters to plate two more Huskies and give UW an 8-0 lead. Brombacher allowed two hits, two walks and the two runs in two innings of work.
The first time the Gators got two runners on base was in the sixth when Pacubla drew a one-out walk and Moultrie recorded a pinch-hit single to left field. Lawrie forced a groundout and struck out the final out of the inning.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Despite two home runs and a Women's College World Series record seven RBI from freshman Niki Williams, the Washington Huskies fell to Georgia, 9-8, in a wild World Series game Sunday at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.
The win by Georgia, which was facing elimination, forces a deciding game tonight at approximately 8 p.m. CT with the winner advancing to the Women's College World Series championship series which starts Monday.
Williams belted a three-run home run in the second inning to give UW a 3-0 lead and also hit a grand slam to tie the game at 8-8 in the fifth inning after Georgia came back to score two in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth to overcome a 4-0 deficit. Morgan Stuart also went 5-for-5 to tie a Women's College World Series and school postseason record for hits in game, but UW made a season-high four errors as the Bulldogs plated two unearned runs.
Georgia used a combination of four pitchers and made five pitching changes in a game that lasted four hours and 15 minutes. It was ultimately Erin Arevalo who shut the Huskies down, allowing no runs in four innings to earn the victory to improve to 2-0. Danielle Lawrie was touched up for a career-high nine runs - seven earned - on nine hits while striking out nine to fall to 39-8.
UW meanwhile, out-hit the Bulldogs, 13-9, but they weren't able to make the most of their opportunities. They lost for the first time in 40 games this season when they scored the first run of the game.
The Huskies jumped out to a 4-0 lead after a three-run home run by Williams in the second that chased started Sarah McCloud. Stuart led off the inning with a single to right field and after Alicia Blake moved her to second with a perfect sac bunt, Williams came up and blasted her fourth home run of the season over the season that cleared the centerfield bleachers.
The Bulldogs came right back in the bottom of the inning, however, to score a couple runs on three hits. After Megan Wiggins was hit by a pitch to start the inning, Georgia got back-to-back singles and a sacrifice fly to make it 3-2. After another single put runners on the corners with two outs, Lawrie got a pop out for the second out and then Alyson McWherter made a fabulous running catch in right-center at the fence to end the inning.
UW got one of the runs back in the top of the third, getting a lucky break with two outs. After Lawrie reached on a two-out walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch, Stuart lift a pop-up into shallow left which dropped between the leftfielder, centerfielder and shortstop, allowing Lawrie to score UW's fourth run. The Huskies looked like they might add another two runs when Blake sent a ball well over the right field foul poul, but the ball was called foul despite landing on the extended foul line beyond the fence. Blake came back and bounced a single up the middle, but reliever Taylor Schlopy retired the next batter to end the rally.
Georgia tied the game up in the bottom of the inning when Kristin Schnake reached on an error and Alisa Goler launched a home run to leftfield to make it 4-4.
The Huskies had an opportunity to take the lead back in the top of the fourth when they loaded the bases on three walks, but Georgia brought ace Christie Hamilton into the game, who got Lawrie to fly out to left to end the inning.
The Bulldogs then jumped on Lawrie for four runs in the fourth inning, the big blow coming on a two-run home run by Schnake, which made the score 8-4.
But UW wouldn't quit, getting all four runs back in the very next inning, all coming on a grand slam by Williams, who broke World Series records for RBI in a game (7) and a series (9) with her second home run of the game. Stuart led off the inning with her third single of the game and Ashlyn Watson also singled with one out before Lauren Greer drew a walk to load the bases. Williams then stepped up a launched a ball over the left field wall this time to give her a career-high seven RBI in the game, tying the UW postseason record.
Lawrie then came out for the fifth with her eye black and her game face on and it work as she got her first 1-2-3 inning since the first inning to keep Georgia off the board for the first time in four innings. She also went on to retire 14 in a row - including six by strikeout - until the Bulldogs get a single to lead off the ninth.
The Huskies had a chance to break through in the eighth when Stuart ripped a double to right-center for her fifth hit of the game, tying a Women's College World Series record. Blake then lined a single up the middle and pinch-runner Amanda Fleischman came steaming around the bases, but Schlopy made a perfect throw home from centerfield to gun her down and keep the game tied.
But the Bulldogs never stopped pushing Lawrie, getting a leadoff single in the ninth before another run reached on an error with one out. After Lawrie allowed her first intentional walk of the season to Goler to load the bases, she got a foul pop-up to Williams at first to put UW on the verge of escaping. Instead, Brianna Hesson worked the count full before drawing a walk to end the game.

Mothers Day Tournament 2009

“ And an Inspiration from Above”

Congratulations Diane and Jason for Hosting the 12u Mothers Day Tournament and having a huge successful fastpitch weekend. You're an inspirational Fastpitch Family (Kasners) that really dedicated your time, understanding and loyalty to your Acers 12u Team and their families. The Acer Parents provided such great enthusiasm and worked the tournament well together as a team.It was a pleasure to have been a guest instead of a coach or trainer and I was able to just enjoy the game, the parents and players, coaches and tournament officials. Most of all what I valued as Fastpitch Coach, I learned how a "Class-Act" Tournament should be directed and properly hosted with a respectful tournament theme "Mothers Day" where all the ladies received flowers on their special day. On a sad note, that provided inspiration to one of your players whose mother not present due to a recent tragedy, the young player obviously dedicated her heart and mind to do her best. After some outstanding RBI Slap Hits in key situations, it was awesome how this player turned sorrow into a challenge then used that to motivate her to do her best. That was evident by the tears I had running down my face and few other parents did too. I know her mother was smiling down on her from up above.Personally, I made some new fastpitch friends, got to know some of the Acer's Parents, enjoyed some delicious BBQ and met some Canadian Participants and Coaches that impressed me with the Canadian style of playing which seemed similar to baseball.The many teams present at the tournament seemed to really get along and make for a competitive environment and level playing field. Any team would have won the tournament because of the fantastic weather and scheduling times, great officiating, and overall characteristics the weekend provided and set the tone for all to compete for a championship.By the way the Infield Maintenance Crews were prompt and kept the fields in a safe, game-ready playing conditions.All my best to your Team! - Coach Adam

Slap Hitting objectives;
1. Get fast runners on 1st base.
2. Put Pressure on the defense.
3. Create RBI's with runners in scoring position.

Mechanics and Key Fundamentals:

Every good trip starts with a good roadmap and a plan to get there. Great hitters know where they are going before they step into the batters box.

1.Proper footwork,momentum and footplacement mechanics.
2.Timing the Pitcher in order to slap-hit the ball opposite direction you're running.
3.The swing mechanics: Hand placement on bat, choke up for a soft-slap,choke down for a hard slap. Bat load is high hands, keep hands inside the ball during the swing. Front shoulder is down and in. Eyes are fixed on the ball before during and after contact.
4. Start the footwork with right foot-slide-step-to left foot for creating momentum and timing the pitch and its location for contact.
5. Cross over step to the pitcher and place the left foot very close to the line of the front of the box.
6. Right foot lifts up during the swing, steps over the top of the batter's box front line and points to the 1st base at foot plant.

A good slapper can get to 1st base in 2.9 seconds of faster. The Div 1 Scholar-Recruit will make it to first base in 2.5 seconds.

Slapping Strategy: In this video, the front of the box-line is non-visibe. The slapper moves to the front of the box and hits the ball with front foot possibley over the line?

He enjoyed playing Mens Local Fastpitch 8 years ago in Seattle and could see some time on the mound in 2009. Adam is well known in Western Washington for training pitching powerhouse 4a Emerald Ridge High School to an undefeated 2009 season. Adam began training Alexa Derrick in her sophomore year in 2007. Alexa was awarded All League 1st Team and Pitcher of the Year. Adam used the same program he trained his goddaughter, Shay Naranjo a Top National Level ASA Pitcher and college prospect in 2006 placing 9th at Nationals with Acers-Glenn 16A from Auburn,WA. All of Shay's teammates received college offers. Another local standout Adam trained is Camile Depew, High scool League MVP and District runner up winner and All State Pitcher/Hitter from Seattle Lutheran in 2008. Adam was the pitching coach for 2 seasons with Seattle Lutheran. Adam had trained Camile 3 years prior when Camile was 13 years old playing for WST 14u. Camile now plays for Shoreline CC and is an All Conference award winner batting 0.465. Camile will be pitching for SCC next season possibly at the starting spot.
Over the last 9 years Coach Adam earned the respect of many fastpitch coaching staff in Pro Fastpitch,College, High School, Little League and ASA,USSSA communities and peers alike and has become well known ASA Fastpitch Pitching and Hitting Instructor-Coach for his hands-on, personable approach and his involvement with the Elementary youth and High School Sports community since 2000 developing Champion Fastpitch Pitchers and Hitters. The Glove Side of the Pitching Motion

for the Dominant Pitcher

"I still see pretty good pitchers at the ball park with a weak-glove-hand, meaning...the pitcher is using less force on the downward motion of the glove-hand than the force of the downward motion of the pitching arm. Pitchers should use the whole body in the pitching motion with equal forces. Efficiency is the key to preventing imbalances and improving over-all Center of Gravity-Balance, strength and power. Its the art of pitching”

Watch any college or Olympic pitcher and check out how they use their glove hand to create dynamic bio-mechanics for creating more force with the total upper body motion of the pitching motion. Jennie Finch will create an inverted oblong circle with her glove hand during her pitching motion. Notice that the circle is creating negative resistance against the other arm and shoulder. It creates as biometric balance at the same time so that the upper body is more athletic and stable to withstand the dynamic forces of the glove hand circle. This energy or force transfers to the rest of the body for various purposes. The glove also adds a timing element of the release of the pitch. So does the front foot landing creating leverage and more forces and energy transfer.

"Like most parents, we visited with the local Little League pitching instructors at that time and learned about the fundamentals of the mechanics for throwing a fastball. Once Shay mastered those basics, it was time I consulted with the University of Washington and Teresa Wilson, one the best Pitching Clinicians in the World of Fastpitch. I learned how the Female Athlete uses the entire body for the Pitching Motions for maximum Efficiency. All American, Amy Hanson took me under her wing year round and assisted me and my pitchers in pitching,hitting and catchers training. I could not have been in a better situation. From there I was introduced to other UW Players and later on to Olympic Players and Coach Mike Candrea. Olympic coach Bobby Simpson guided me over the years as my other mentor in Hitting Training. I was able to broaden my knowledge base of 20 years in the Sports Training field to now Pitching and Hitting in woman's Fastpitch Softball. Nine years later so much has been learned and new ideas found in the training of Fastpitch players on every level. La Serna worked for La Costa Resort and Spa as a Purchasing Manager and Resident Fitness Expert. Served on the Wellness Committee and nominated for assistant Fitness Director in 1991 as well as his continued diligent work to keep involved with USMC Reserves during Desert Storm. Coach Adam maintained a lifelong career in the Health and Fitness, Nutrition Industry and enjoyed sports competitions,swimming & running marathons, competitive bodybuilding & weightlifting as a lifetime drug-free athlete. A resident in Washington State for the past 35 years. Adam graduated from Renton High School as a prep scholar athlete and 2-time State competitor in wrestling. Adam’s Parents are Louis “Lou” and Gloria Serna who are retired and living in Albuquerque,NM near many relatives. Father is a veteran officer of the Army and Mother is a veteran of the USMC/Retired.

Jordon Kelly is an Honors Student and just finished traveling to Washington DC with fellow Honors students. It takes hard work and dedication to staying at the top of her class. Jordan uses the same dedication and hard work training at the La Serna Fastpitch Academy in Tacoma,Washington twice per week with Coach Adam for pitching and hitting instruction. "I've been around baseball and softball for many years. I coach both my daughters in Little League so it was time for Jordon to train with Adam. We know what he has done with the Top Pitchers in Seattle.

I told Jordon this is not Little League Camp and forget about the idea it being easy. LFA Camp is the most challenging Pitching Camp in Washington. Adam's philosophy is one way, HIS. Universally it's sound,solid no fooling around pitching instruction. His 14u ASA pitchers and High School pitchers dominate batters. You are going to have to work harder than before because your ASA/NSA competition is working just as hard, Adam knows how to prepare you for the next level in Select Fastpitch. I really like her drop and change-up she used at the Ice Breaker Tournament. The team won 5 out of 6 games!! Now Jordon is learning the Rise ball and my other younger daughter Maddie is on board with coach Adam each week for lessons and is showing improvement."

1. Fast Smart First Step in the Drop-Step load.

The Jaguars will rely heavily upon ace pitcher Alexa Derrick and hurler Alisha McKnight throughout the postseason.
“Alexa is our No. 1 pitcher and McKnight will pitch for us, too. I don’t want Alexa pitching every game. We need to keep her fresh,” Wardle said. “Our best lineup is when Alexa is pitching and when McKnight is on first base.” - Coach Wardle

There’s a unifying reason why Rogers and Emerald Ridge Jaguars have advanced to the state fastpitch tournament. The common denominator amongst these two elite programs is each squad possesses an ace starting hurler who paralyzes opposing teams from the pitching circle. Alexa Derrick (Emerald Ridge) and Bobbi-Jo Schaapveld (Rogers) have literally carried their respective teams on their shoulders all season long. Emerald Ridge inserts Alisha McKnight into the starting lineup from time to time to give Derrick a rest but Schaapveld is typically the only Ram to pitch for her team.
The state tournament will be no different this weekend.

The rains finally relented and the Narrows and SPSL softball tournaments were able to get underway on Friday evening. Emerald Ridge knocked off Kentwood for the SPSL title and Taylor Darnielle tossed a no-hitter in the Narrows League title game, leading Wilson past Stadium.
One Narrows League berth is still up for grabs -- it will go to Gig Harbor, Foss, Olympia or Lincoln -- but here are the nearly complete first-round pairings.

Potential in a young 12u team?

" I have the pleasure of training some of the best High School Teams in the Nation and some of the newly young fastpitch players, playing ASA/NSA for the first time and stepping into some very big shoes of local fastpitch legends. Its a big jump from City League non-competitive play going right into Junior Olympics. It takes a "fearless coach with a vision" and a great group of young ladies that want to compete. I saw that in Jason Kasner and some of his Acers 12u last Summer in 2008 while attending LFA Summer Fastpitch Camp. Two of Acers youngest players, Anna Kasner and Kendahl Sugai have worked the hardest since 2008 Summer Camp. They keep bringing the "Attitude" that they are pitchers and hitters and they mean business. And they are not even 12 years old. I have to say 50% of that confidence and attitude comes from great parenting and guidence. As a Pro Trainer you hope that is the case when training new talent. Sometimes the burden is left on the player's shoulders to carry. No parent around. Some players will do it. Well some did at the Ice Breaker with big-girl style. Eyes were on the youngest team there. Can these girls compete with the big-girls? Coaches all around the Northwest commented on how well the Acers played against the older players. One coach from Oregon was amazed! I see great things to come from the young Acers in the very near future, even now they are leaving their mark on the field. Good hitting ability and pitchers with great heart throwing movement fastballs and great change-ups. Sometimes Fastpitch is not always about winning but it is a very nice prize."

"I don't know, its a big step for me, that's why I went to Fastpitch Camp. My daughter Anna shows some potential and works very hard. She needed a team and Acers offered me a coaching job. It worked out. Coaching and developing young players in ASA takes one step at a time. We're still growing, and I think the lumps taken were lumps to learn from. We made some big jumps over our last weekend tourney, the girls hopefully learned not to give up and to support their teamates, no matter the score. I think our little talk after the first day got them fired up for Sunday and they played really well. We should have beat Bellevue Blast, Sudden Impact is a 12-13 year old team and they could hit, although the second day Cydni made some great pitches that they dinked around. I think that if we played the Hurricanes on Sunday, it would have been a lot different. Against the Blaze, the girls pounded the ball, it was the best that we as coaches have seen when it came to hitting. The defense was also stellar, and what can we say about Michelle and Cydni.

Mothers Day Tournament 2009

“ And an Inspiration from Above”

Congratulations Diane and Jason for Hosting the 12u Mothers Day Tournament and having a huge successful fastpitch weekend. You're an inspirational Fastpitch Family (Kasners) that really dedicated your time, understanding and loyalty to your Acers 12u Team and their families. The Acer Parents provided such great enthusiasm and worked the tournament well together as a team.
It was a pleasure to have been a guest instead of a coach or trainer and I was able to just enjoy the game, the parents and players, coaches and tournament officials. Most of all what I valued as Fastpitch Coach, I learned how a "Class-Act" Tournament should be directed and properly hosted with a respectful tournament theme "Mothers Day" where all the ladies received flowers on their special day. On a sad note, that provided inspiration to one of your players whose mother not present due to a recent tragedy, the young player obviously dedicated her heart and mind to do her best. After some outstanding RBI Slap Hits in key situations, it was awesome how this player turned sorrow into a challenge then used that to motivate her to do her best. That was evident by the tears I had running down my face and few other parents did too. I know her mother was smiling down on her from up above.
Personally, I made some new fastpitch friends, got to know some of the Acer's Parents, enjoyed some delicious BBQ and met some Canadian Participants and Coaches that impressed me with the Canadian style of playing which seemed similar to baseball.
The many teams present at the tournament seemed to really get along and make for a competitive environment and level playing field. Any team would have won the tournament because of the fantastic weather and scheduling times, great officiating, and overall characteristics the weekend provided and set the tone for all to compete for a championship.
By the way the Infield Maintenance Crews were prompt and kept the fields in a safe, game-ready playing conditions.

High School State bound West Seattle Thunder Players

West Seattle Thunder Fastpitch Athletes (Current and Former) are well represented at the 2009 High School State Fast Pitch Tournament

22 current and former West Seattle Thunder players will be representing their high school teams in the 3A state fast pitch tournament on May 29 in Tacoma. (This represents about 10% of the athletes who will be participating in this event). Several of these athletes were key in helping their teams earn a state berth.
For West Seattle High School during the District 2 games, Thunder 18U teammates Kelsi Baker and Corinne Kleeberger shared the pitching with Kelsi pitching 18 of the 23 innings played during the Friday games. Kristin Jackson (18U) who caught all 37 innings during the distict tournament also had 2 hits in the WS Wildcats must win game against the Mt Si Wildcats. Annie Patnode (16U) drove Kelsi Baker in for the winning run in the 9th inning to advance the team to State for the first time ever. West Seattle was helped to the win in part by some cheering support by Holy Names Thunder players and other Holy Names West Seattle community members. Holy Names took 4th in the District tournament with contributions from 18U Thunder athletes Madie Baker and Ally Gale who combined for multiple hits during the tournament including 2 triples by Madie Baker. (Several former Thunder athletes contributed to their team’s successes including Farleigh Winter, Holy Names and Millie Osborne, Katelyn Elder and Cortney Elliott all from West Seattle High School)
In the District 3/4 Tournament both Mount Rainier and Kennedy advanced to State. Helping Kennedy stay alive in their first and must win game on Saturday was the hitting of Natalie Budner (Thunder 16U), her sister Sabrina (a former Thunder player) and Halle Davis (Thunder 16U) who combined for runs in a come from behind 4-3 victory over Timberline. Other Thunder players contributing to Kennedy’s success include Jenni Grosz (16U) and former Thunder athletes Toni Spadoni, Kerri Selk and Shannon Josie. Kennedy qualified for state with a win over the Thunder laden Mount Rainier Rams including 16U teammates Kelsey and Kristi O’Keefe and 18U Amanda Hopkins and Hillary Klein. (Former Thunder players on the Rams include Sonny and Maddi Dorhoffer and Tayler Fillmore). The Rams also went on to win their final game on Saturday to qualify for the State tournament.
Several former Thunder Fast Pitch players will also represent Seattle Lutheran which has qualified for State in the 2B bracket. Additionally, Emilie Schwartz (Thunder 16U) is headed off to state, not for fast pitch but for Track representing the Northwest School.

TACOMA — The Bainbridge fastpitch team opened the Class 3A state tournament Friday morning with a 6-1 win over two-time defending champion Kennedy at the South End Recreation Area in Tacoma.
Lindsay Willmann threw a 1-hitter and Bainbridge pounded out nine hits, including doubles from Taylor Greenfield, Hailey Willmann, Chelsie Kakila and Haylee Baker. The Spartans scored four runs in the second inning and two in the fourth.
Bainbridge plays Union, a 2-0 winner over Lynnwood, in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m. Friday.
In the Class 2A fastpitch tournament in Selah, North Mason's game against Anacortes was scheduled to start at noon.

The girls did great, finished 5-1. Sudden Impact got our number this time due mostly to the one bad inning we had all tourney, five run first where we gave them five outs. Held them to one more run and we ended up losing 6-2. Sylvie had one of her tougher outings, after the game she told me her elbow was hurting and she couldn’t really throw the drop. I think it’s just a muscle strain, as the pain doesn’t seem to be in the joint, but on more on the forearm muscle. So we kept her out the rest of the day and iced, hopefully she’ll be OK. Benita pitched another great game in the last one and beat the Woodinville Reign 5-1. Yes, we were proud of them. They were one inning away from being 6-0. Sylvie definitely was not her normal self in the SI game, e.g. in her first complete game she threw 50 strikes and 11 balls, while in that game she was down around 60% strikes, which is way below her average. -Coach Jeff

Congratulations on a fantastic weekend in the Tri Cities. You all played great but more importantly, you all came together as a team. It was a true pleasure to watch and participate. Thanks to each and every one of you. For those of you who have not heard, Thunder had an outstanding weekend at the Ice Breaker winning 5 and 3/4 games and losing 1 inning. That is how close we were to being a perfect 6-0 for the weekend. This was a tremendous start to the season but one that left room for growth and improvement. It will be a lot of fun for all of us to set new goals so that we continue to improve over the season. - Coach Steve

2007 was a year of "finding talent" in the Fife Milton area for fastpitch players to come out of the Little League division and try-out for Junior Olympics in ASA/NSA Fastpitch. Then it was not long before Audrey and her parents were invited to come out to join a pick-up game with Sudden Impact 12u. After getting noticed, Coach Raj Bains asked Audrey to think about joining the team. Not long after, Audrey was playing Junior Olympic softball. After a couple months of practices, the team played in a few season openers and won Championships. To become a champion softball player in ASA/NSA takes alot of work,falling down and picking yourself back up, never giving up and trusting your coaches and teammates. With 2008 now underway, Audrey has dedicated herself to quality training with her Team coaches and coach Adam at the Tacoma Soccer and Fastpitch Center where she has developed her own hitting technique and has a bigger bat. "I see Audrey wanting to learn about hitting so she can dedicate herself to her team more as a hitter and starting catcher. It was difficult for Audrey to overcome an intensive hitting program we provide for serious teams and players at the Fastpitch Center. Fun is the reward for hard work and discipline that the player puts in. Because they get to experience the results after winning a few games and a championship or two. Leaders will grow out from those experiences. I treat everyone the same, nobody gets special treatment or favors. Simply put, if you don't want to get better or train hard, you won't be training in our Fastpitch Academy. There is a place for average performers. Just not here. Once Audrey realized what her dad Jason asked of her to do her best at training camp, she just kept taking it all in and then delivering. Averaging extra base hits and a couple triples in her last few games last month. I like to think that Audrey has natural ability and instinct. She can make a big hit look easy. There's alot of work that goes into a serious/intense hitting program. Easy, it is not. If the young ladies can take the pressure to perform at camp then they can use that new skill anytime they go out and compete. I like to tell them it gets easier." -coach Adam

Marah "The Rocket" Williams is no stranger to the fastpitch community in Seattle. A Legend and a Champion who put Seattle Fastpitch Club in high gear winning Seattle Metro Championships and many other tournaments qualifying time and time again for Nationals. Marah was recruited to Garfield High school Softball last summer after playing in a pick-up summer game at Woodlawn Park and she was only a Freshman. Four years ago Mike Williams and his wife Penny LeGate introduced me to their daughters Marah and Molly at the Strike Zone ball club in Seattle where I was training pitchers. My focus was on Molly but Marah was standing around watching and eventually wanted to try pitching. The 10 year old later started a journey to early fastpitch stardom. Later I travelled to Magnolia at the request of Mike so he can be closer to home and get dinner started for the family at his usual time. What happened in those many months and years of training was Marah's incredible fastball,curve and change-up. A couple years later playing 12u little league and Select Club ball, Marah made a name for herself and the Teams she played for. A dominant pitcher then, Marah just had fun doing what she loved. "The parents,players and local fans just could not wait to see her pitch, they just loved to watch when Marah pitched, said dad Mike. Soon other parents of other teams started to take notice of Marah's exceptional abilities. I had parents coming up to me after games and asking questions about Marah's age,who trains her and leaving their phone numbers with me, including a rival pitcher's dad that was taking his daughter to a UW pitcher for training." Mike really enjoyed training with and learning all he could about pitching. When Marah turned 12 I remember coming to practice and Mike had full catcher's gear on! Marah's speed started to overwhelm him on sunny days and wanted to protect his body. I learned so much from Marah about the essentials she learned and applied to become a legendary pitcher in her community. Now pitching for Garfield, Marah takes on a whole new role as a starting Varsity pitcher.

Our daughter Peyton has been training with you for 2 years now and this Little League season is the best. She is pitching with good confidence and more aggressive on the mound, beating teams 15-0, 18-1 and the improvement is amazing.

"Whatever it Takes" describes Peyton's training ethic. Her attitude, never give up! I really admire any athlete that comes to practice and trains hard because they feel that will give them an edge over the competition. Peyton keeps improving and that's what matters to her. " I like to pitch and hit because its fun and I get to strike-out batters and then later go up to bat and hit."

With frozen waterbottle in hand, it did not matter to Peyton. Peyton practiced in all types of weather in 2007. Rain,snow or ice did not slow down this pitcher in the making. I think because Peyton plays soccer all year round is the reason for her discipline to practice her pitching and hitting in any weather. I have yet to train pitchers in the snow and ice but when parents and pitchers call, I come and train with them. I just think it is nuts sometimes but you know what, there is nothing nice and pretty about playing fastpitch softball. It is a growing sport that can get rough and physical. Fastpitch requires all skill levels physically and mentally. I just thought to myself, ok these soccer players love the outdoors so I will show up in my warm-ups and train them. Alongside Peyton is her good friend and soccer and fastpitch companion, Andie Nelson. I remember many times training with both of them and said, ok this is only for an hour. A few hot chocolates later and hour goes by, then 90 minutes and now its 2 hours! Pitching, Hitting, Fielding in the snow and ice or rain. I learn so much from training players but this was a first. Really, that was the motivation behind opening up the indoor Tacoma Fastpitch Center. 2008 fall training was a little warmer but I miss the hot chocolates!!

A Rising Star In Graham Washington

Graham, Washington is known for it's spectacular views of Mt Rainier and spectacular fastpitch softball players. I had the pleasure of training some very good players in the Graham and Puyallup area over the past 5 years. One of it's legends will be leaving soon and making room for the next, possible High School greats and the next legend. What makes a legend? Ask any big college recruiter or coach and they will tell you someone with dedication to fastpitch and growing in their position, with determination to win and being a dependable person. A player that can be counted on time and time again in all areas of fastpitch on and off the field. Kelsey Cearley is a rising star in Graham,WA. Now pitching for Sudden Impact 14u.

I really did not know what to expect from day 1 training Kelsey as a pitcher 2 years ago. Let's just say she was unasuming. Very small in size for her age group, 11 at the time. KC had a work ethic you're not used to seeing in a beginning pitcher back then. In less than 6 months she went from learning how to throw a fastball for location, "spot", to winning several championships with her team Sudden Impact 12u. That's not supposed to happen, its rare. Sudden Impact became a dominant force overnight. The parents started with 2 players and built the team from there, holding tryouts and recruiting local fastpitch trainers to send their top players their way. " I think she likes it? One thing she is good at is learning new things. KC likes to be active and wants to be the one in the spotlight, especially at home challenging her older sister Kayla and everyone in the house at everything. Kayla was the first to play softball then KC, sais dad Terry. KC has performed excellent in the spotlight for Sudden Impact the last two seasons. What I am enjoying the most as her Pitching Coach is KC's ability to learn new grips and pitches or "tweek" an existing pitch to make it better. Not every pitcher has that ability at her age and level."

Now in 2009 KC is doing it all again...pitching,hitting,slap-hitting. At the 2009 Ice Breaker Tournament, KC pitched a no-hitter and drove in RBI's as a slap hitter winning 15-1 in her first game!

Slap Hitting does 3 important things for your offense; 1. Creates RBI's when runners in scoring position. 2. Puts pressure on the Defense, 3. Put runners on 1st base that have speed.
