2012 LFA College Fastpitch Hall of Fame

2012 NSU Senior Pitcher, Kelli Bornander #17

Kelli Bornander, a senior field general and starting pitcher for the Div II Norhern State University Softball Team ends her final season close to perfection leaving the college softball diamond with a permanent mark by becoming one of the best or possibly the best pitcher in NSU History! Gathering pitching records that includes most innings pitched, strike-outs, and finishing the 2012 season with a perfect fielding percentage and a six game winning streak holding a 1.67 ERA with 24 strike-outs in 42 innings pitched. In softball it takes a great team and coaches behind you to accomplish this feat. Congratulations NSU Softball Team. Kelli Bornander

2011 Bornander showing extreme confidence

Bornander's mental perfection is a mind-set that was a key tool she has garnered from years of training with Coach Adam La Serna of LFA Fastpitch before and during her college pitching career at NSU.

"Perfection sounds cliche in our un-perfect world we live in. However, as a person you don't have to conform to it...because eventually perfection will find those searching for it. Kelli was never taught that in her softball training until arriving at LFA in her junior year at Lakes HS in Tacoma, Washington. Kelli had reached a point in her Junior Olympic Fastpitch  career where she wanted to be part of the best in the country. I told Kelli that perfection comes with serious training and I can help her achieve that, only if she wanted the same thing? Something that former teammate, Shay Naranjo , had set an example of for her to follow. Soon after, Kelli became almost possesed with training and wanting to learn skills both mentally and physically as a pitcher and won almost every high school softball award for her league her senior season and was rectruited and started for NSU that same year."

Kelli Bornander has now set the records for others to follow at Northern State University both academically, earning her BA in Accounting, while performing outstanding in athletics. Therefore, becoming the first-ever-member of the LFA College Fastpitch Hall of Fame for her outstanding accomplishments. From LFA and Washington State Fastpitch athletes and coaches, we welcome Kelli back home where her roots began...one perfect pitch at a time. (to be continued) - Coach Adam
